ok I'm wanting to network devices in two rooms
Hate wifi, so opted to wire.

Have already got faceplates and cable (cat6 not solid core) porbably not copper ether :(

But i'v been reading I should'v got solid copper core cable

by the time I route it, think it will be about 30m-40m

As I only want to do this once,
Will the cable I already have do the job or should I get some better stuff ?

Thanks for any advice :p

Thanks GefGz

Not sure how bendy the route will be as yet, depends on what i hit, plan on it going through the loft.

How much better would the solid cable be over what I already have ?

Stranded cable won't work reliably with the idc terminals of the faceplates.

The permitted bending radius will be the same for stranded or solid core cable.

I presume CAT5e would be a bit cheaper,
I see 75m of belkin cat5e for less than the cat6 above.

Noob i know,
only gain cat6 will give me over cat5e is speed above 10/100 ??

ok cat5e will be fine for me.
just trying to source it now as cheap as I can.

so many offering it, hard to know who's best, I.E a buy it now price

Try to avoid anything that's sold as CCA. Anything that's too cheap is probably CCA even if it doesn't say so.

That said, CCA would probably work just fine, especially as the distances involved are fairly short.

Hopefully not classed as a competitor on here but I recently ordered some cable, plates, tools etc from CableMonkey. Price seemed reasonable and service/delivery was fine. I found a code, VALUE10, that gave me 10% off the order.

Cat5e I would recommend and is fully capable of Gigabit speeds.

Remember to run the cable away from any power cables to reduce cross talk.
