Wish I'd got the A1 Mini combo instead of just the mini.

So after dipping my toe in with the A1 Mini I love it.

I sorely regret not getting the combo and looking at the price of the AMS Lite its £220 alone. For an extra £60 I could get an A1 mini and combo.

Wish the AMS Lite was more competitively priced or I could find someone to go halves and split a combo pack.

I've not bought any Bambu filament, it's almost twice the price of Eryone/Overture/eSun and I'm not doing that for an RFID tag. I printed a PastaMatic and I just respool stuff on to plastic spools if needed. Keeps the AMS happy.

I have a lot of PETG and PLA stock, mostly neutral colours tbh. I tend to print more funtional/structural prints rather than pretty things tbh.

That said have some eSun bone + brown printing out a Drift Planter at the moment which looks cool.

Love both of those,. I think I might get an AMS with Black, White, Green and maybe a bone colour.

I may wait for the black Friday shortage to clear and see if they do a January sale on the ams

Honestly just email Bambu and ask them if they'll still send you one at the bundle price, you might be surprised.
I did last week, they said no. It’s fine. It’s spurred me on to try and learn tinkercad and start uploading onto makerworld. On that front any solid tinkerguides or tips from those with a presence on makerworld greatly appreciated

So, I have narrowed down my choices and some advice much appreciated
  1. Buy an AMS for my mini
  2. Buy a regular A1 Combo and gain the benefit of the bigger build plate
    • If I buy the larger A1 either sell my mini to offset eh cost or keep it which Im not sure I have the space for at the moment. But could use say a 0.2 nozzle and make it my miniature printer just for minis

AMS related question - can I just use eSun/Overture etc and just loose the rfid function or are there other considerations here? I assume if using the ams without bambu filament I manually set each colour and filament type in the slicer for each print?

Any other considerations?

Going to keep the mini too.

Quick question - do eSun cardboard spools work in the AMS Lite?

@randal do you have the AMS or AMS lite? Have you ahd any success using native cardboard spools or brands without respooling?

Good work. :D

AMS.

You can use cardboard spools in the AMS but BBL don't recommend it. Over time the cardboard gives off dust/fibres that clog stuff.

Hey Welshdragon - no worries at all using cardboard reels as you'll have the AMS lite which is better and handling different reels. I've printed over 100 reels with no issues at all.

You'll be pleased with the A1, that extra size definitely comes in handy!!
@katie279 Finally set it up last night and having a play. Really really pleased so far.

going to keep the A1 mini too. My wife wants to start doing the odd craft store :)

Which brands have you been using to good effect on the AMS Lite? Lots of sales and reductions at the moment so may stock up.
