which path to choose - Roche or Iorveth?

I was wondering which is better. ie which has better loot, gives more xp for more talent points. don't care about story/cut scenes tbh as i skip a lot of them

no way i am doing a second play through since i am a bit underwhelmed by this game. probably woudn't even finish it if there was more choice out there currently

overall 7/10
- graphics, art direction, cut scenes are very good,
- but combat is worse than first game, which wasn't very good to begin with.
- inventory system, HUD, maps, quest trackers etc are just clumbsy when you compare to most other rpg
- leveling and talent system is rather poor imo
- also world seems fairly small so far and game feels too linear for my taste, except for this choice i need to make

I think we may have found the problem here....namely why the **** are you playing a story driven RPG if you're just going to skip the story....then complain about being underwhelmed!!

thx for that wonderful insight. btw all rpg are story driven. that said i don't care for the witcher story, it isn't pulitzer prize material

thx to the ones that actually bothered with constructive responses, so i will go for Iorveth's path since many in other forums seem to agree as well

EDIT i don't really care about a guy's opinion, who couldn't even kill Kayran in 9 attempts on easy and having to go online to figure it out. they have been dumbing down games for years for people like you and still it's not enough :p

Being that it isn't a piece of newspaper journalism, or an American drama, that should come as no surprise.

The game is a story driven game. Your role is to be "there for the atmosphere", skipping cutscenes and aiming for "teh best lootz and talent points" is missing the point entirely.

That said, I went with the Roche patch for my first playthrough, because he's like a medieval version of Bear Gryllis.

FYI they also have a fiction award

i like to lvl my chars in rpg, explore locations, pick up cool loot, experiment with cool powers and different fighting techniques, as for stories i'd rather read a good book or watch a movie - games are just not as good a medium for stories, well i haven't played one yet - admitedly some are better than others, but nothing that has been as good as books imo.

thx for your input about Roche, but I will choose Iorveth since i read that you get more xp and better loot, anyway to each his own path.

Surely an MMO would be more suited in every way you describe.

true dat. but i don't want to start a new mmo, with hot new releases around the corner, so thought i'd give this game a shot hoping that they would have addressed the shortcomings of the first game

not sure why this thread is turning into it's a story game which is not the point. anyway signing out, bored of reading sheeps making the same comment over and over again without answering a simple question

No they aren't.

How can you not care for something if you're just skipping it all anyway? What are you basing your lack of care on?

Why? What are you playing this game for? You've just come in here and made yourself look like a bit of a berk. What next? "I thought Half Life was a bit crap because combat with the crowbar was really boring, oh I don't really like guns"

Oh and by the way it's thanks not thx. And everyone came up with constructive responses, they constructively pointed out that you were being a bit of a fool by criticising a game that you weren't even playing properly.

are you a tool or a troll?

1. name 1 rpg that doesn't have a story

2. did i say i skip all scenes? i said a lot. i did go through them at start but then got bored, so started skipping many of them

3. thx for the grammar lesson :p

4. i don't play the game properly says the fool that couldn't figure out how to beat the Kayran when it is pretty much spelled out for you in the game if you bothered paying attention to the story you so love

finally get over yourself simply because i do not care much for the witcher story ; furthermore we are talking about a game, hence the pc games section, where gameplay is an important aspect which you simply brush aside.

PS a constructive response would have been to answer the question and say which path was your favourite, perhaps even why, which you did not do. if you feel flaming someone for not liking the game story is constructive, so be it.
