witcher 2 or skyrim?

witcher 2 is more story driven , skyrim is more about exploration but both are great but I would say go for witcher 2 first

I must be the few to say Skyrim bored the holy hell out of me, was clunky as hell, and ugly out of the box. I can't find a game immersive if enemies only run in straight lines or sideways like a crab, and the animations are so clunky it all looks rather awkward.

I've given it a go twice, and each time I just find it pain stakingly dull.

Haven't played the witches, but would love to try it myself.

Skyrim for me was a better experience due to the fact it's more open. I'd end up drifting in to some unknown town and doing side quests totally forgetting about the main storyline, plus there's the endless amounts of modding options. Witcher 2 looks phenomenal and is the kind of game you'd play through once or twice then you've done everything.

This, I loved witcher 2 but for me skyrim is more open I can forget about the main storyline and do what I want within reason you get your moneys worth.

If It was me I would get both play witcher 2 and then spend ages on skyrim as it can take as long as you want as it is more open.

Witcher 2 is much smaller but with a very deeply branching structure - it benefits from being much more rich & polished over it's smaller area & it's possible to play an almost entirely different game on the next play-through. I'm not sure one is better than the other, just very different approaches to immersion in RPGs. For someone like me who doesn't want to commit to a 50+ hour game, Witcher 2 is better because you can see the end in about 20 hours but there are so many alternative paths that if you decide to play again, you can have a very different experience.

I'd say Skyrim based on the fact I haven't played Witcher 2, but did give the first Witcher game a go and couldn't get into it. I put over 100 hours into Skyrim and I really enjoyed it. Plus Skyrim also has Steam Workshop so there a lot of mods for it too.

Skyrim took ages to grow on me, I completed the main quest and still wasn't sure about it. Now I've spent some time wandering around and exploring I love it!

It doesn't seem to have the vast openness of oblivion/morrowind I guess as it also has to run on consoles but its very pretty and easy to mod.

The Witcher 2 absolutely destroys Skyrim.

Skyrim was a terrible game for complete casuals. It was incredibly shallow with a mediocre storyline, poor combat and terrible quests. The Witcher 2 had:

better music
better locations
better art style and graphics
better characters
better storyline
choices that matter
better alchemy system
better monsters
better lore
better animations.

Even though I haven't played Skyrim, I would still say it's good that you went with that.

Witcher 2 was a huge disappointment to me, I didn't even finish it. Loved the first game.

Really looking forward to the third installment though.
