Hi, my build is struggling to run Witcher 3 on lowest settings, would be great to be able to run it high. My build is a few years old, but basically consists of:

i5-2500k 3.3ghz
8GB RAM
GeForce GTX 560 Ti

I can probably spend about £500, I'd like a new case too as I've pretty much destroyed mine, and I need to have WiFi, at the moment I tether to my phone (had to move PC downstairs and can't trail a cat5 to it), I see you can get the USB or PCI cards, or some of the motherboards come with it?

Don't mind keeping my existing mobo/CPU/RAM if you think it's worth it, but isn't the CPU a little dated now?

Nothing wrong with your CPU, but you ought to overclock it to at least 4.5 ghz.

Witcher 3 is gpu bound, so get the best graphics you can afford.

There are new cards imminent, so it's worth waiting 2 or 3 weeks until the dust settles.

Overclock your CPU and grab a decent cooler. Then buy the best gfx card you can afford. Job done. £500 is enough to do this.

Buy a 970,will run the game with a mix of ultra/high out of the box(minus hairworks)

Heavily Overclock it,will do 60fps full ultra(minus hairworks) @1080p

Oc your CPU,it will make little difference in TW3,but will beneficial for loads of other games

Yep I'm currently playing this on ultra at the mo on my 970 and it's pretty smooth, a few fps hits now and again with hairworks but nothing too bad and it does look damn nice.

Nought wrong with that Sandybridge CPU and they generally overclock really well as they have better TIM unlike my Haswell chip. As per other comments, OC that CPU of yours as it's free performance anyway (with cooler - a hyper 212 is decent enough at around 25-30 quid), add at least a 970, also consider an SSD for your OS AND Witcher 3 (if you haven't one already) choose a nice new case, get some homeplugs to sort out the ethernet cable issue as you want to avoid WIFI IMO and you're well under your budget for decent performance and of course, the 9XX series comes with the game which you can sell on to get some cashback and there's the new Batman for the near future. Bargain.
