Witcher gremlins

Got given this yesterday, as a late present, so went ahead and installed it.

Downloaded and installed patch 1.4 and language pack no probs.

Went to play it, and after the intro witcher stops responding and closes

Had no problem with the demo at all - only difference was I had a different monitor @1024 native. Now got 22" widescreen @1280.

Running Vista 32bit, GTX 280, 2Gb ram.

Search only revealled people not seeing intro, or random crashes further into gameplay. Any ideas?

I had so many issues with The Witcher I gave up with it. Shame, because it looked great.

Did you uninstall the demo before you did a full install?

Did uninstall the demo ages ago, and ran a reg cleaner (do after every un/install).

Was trying to stay away from the witcher forums, as something about the colour/layout bugs me, but have registered so may give it a go. Find these forums easier on the eye.

this game does look good, if it is so problematic tho would be such a shame.

uninstall, then reinstall the basic game and see if that works.

If it does, update to 1.4 and try again, then do the same with the langauge pack.

That will eliminate those as problems.

Try setting it to 800x600 to start and all graphics on basic.

It's been solid as a rock for me since I upgraded to the enhanced edition. I dunno, try upgrading sound and graphics drivers, or turning off EAX?

Did this, and left everything as default, and it works

Only difference was I originally installed to C:\Games, where as this time it went into Program Files...odd.

Seems stable as had a 2hr run last night with no issues, with everything on high. Graphically very pleasing - was suprised I could go to bed with someone (that wasn't in the demo

)
