Witcher what an awesome rpg

Tis awesome game but i lost my save half way through, (the game) and cba to restart, takes a while to get into it. :(

I did the exact same thing, but I just downloaded a save file from http://www.games-saves.com/ and carried on from pretty much where I left off :)

I put it off for ages because I couldn't be bothered to replay 40 hours of the game, but now I'm back into the swing :)

I didn't like the game and that baffles me. Everyone else seems to love it and when similar games are quoted in comparison they're always ones that I enjoyed. I might try playing it a third time but doubt it will change my opinion. What's wrong with me?

same with me when I first started give it a while and try it again but take your time you wont get into it otherwise

does it matter which version of the game you buy?
ive seen patches mentioned so is it worth just buying the original release and patching it up to enhanced/directors cut?

Nothing? I didn't like it either. The combat system (runes or whatever) sucked, imho. I'm one of those gamers that wants a good story, but I'm not willing to sacrifice good gameplay to get it.

Having NPCs say "dwarf ****" a lot, because that's what "mature gaming" means these days also made me rage. You can't really be impressed by that unless you just left primary school.

But most people were very crude in the days of yore, seems pretty accurate to me :p

good thing you put imho there. Combat system was great and pretty complex, especially on hard difficulty. Those styles, signes, alchemy, oils etc..not to mention how awesomely cool Geralt is when doing advanced combos.

That has nothing to do with being mature or not. This is simply how not very educated people talk(ed). It is there to enhance immersion, plus uneducated people spoke vulgarisms often in the books too. So it is true to source material.

The "mature" stuff includes the serious choices you have to make, fatherly taking care of Alvin, racism between elves and humans et cetera. And in this regard, Witcher is actually one of the most mature games.

But hey, haters gonna hate. Too bad you can't enjoy one of the best games made.

Started the game today and this time im gonna finish it. I bought it on release got to act 2 in the city. Lost my save cause of a format and didnt remember to backup my saves.
Anyway im enjoying this game so much, i forgot how good it is and its dripping with atmosphere. Its just the little things that help make enjoy the game. From people running for cover when it rains to some a thug telling you to suck dwarf ****:p:D

Im playing the steam version which is the Enhanced Edition, i can already tell that its added so much more detail and i dont mean graphics wise. There seems to be more different skins for people instead of seeing about 5 different villagers, nearly all of them are different now. The music seems improved and theres already a lot more dialogue.
Im getting called all the names under the sun by villagers its so funny.

Play this game you must, if you already havent.

I recently got into this properly, have had the platinum version since Christmas. Currently on Chapter III and 20 hours through. Loving it!

I struggled to get into it because the Swamp got tiresome, running backwards and forwards because one NPC wanted me to talk to someone who lives on the other side of the swamp, multiple times. I'm passed that now and it's becoming very good :)

D&D was pretty complex. Diablo wasn't, nor did I find Witcher to be. I found myself doing performing the same limited set of actions in every fight, and to me that doesn't shout "complex".

But hey, I prefer my RPGs turn- or round-based.

One of those no holds barred games where the devs aren't afraid to make risky additions to their game. Such an awesome title, even though flawed in places like armour/weapon choices.

Hey man, that's fine - if you prefer turnbased stuff to realtime, that's good, but then don't go saying Witcher combat sucks, when you just have different preference.
D&D is more complex than Witcher (also has 20+ years of history behind it), sure, but Witcher is much more complex than Diablo. Again, on hard especially, when you are forced to really use everything the game offers.

All standard copies of The Witcher can be upgraded to the Enhanced Edition via a free patch. The patch also removes the DVD check, so you can run it without the disc in the drive.
