At some point soon i will be *trying* to teach someone who is a web dev virgin how to create a website. Now teaching html and all that could take quite a while. I have had experience with the bravenet site, using wizards and templates to create a fiarly simple site. The only problem is with things like forums, journals and photo albums is that there are adverts :( even though the web package was the most extensive/expensive.

My question is..

Are there any similar sites that a web dev n00b could happily use to create and maintain their site? obviously paying for them is a given.

the only stipulation is that the deal comes with a .co.uk or .com address.

thanks guys

thanks for the prompt replies, to begin with i'd rather exhaust the possibities of the wizard based sites. only because the person in question can get a site up and running fairly quickly and from there can learn the html basics and apply them as and when needed.

If they can have a premade template it will give them the chance to potter around the html and find their feet changing fonts and sizes, inserting pictures etc. rather than just getting annoyed at it. from there i think there is more of a base to start teaching properly as this person has never coded anything before.

so..

is bravenet the only site that does this? Have tried searching google but only came accross a mulitude of standard hosts. are there any simialr that anyone knows of?

Edit:

yeah i suppose frontpage and a normal host might be a good way forward. i'll have a play and see how it goes..

thanks so far

CMSs are definitely something i'm going to look at :) not really had much to do with them.

I just remembered that google have a pretty comprehensive website creator. I have only set up one site before and I was wondering if it was possible to register a domain and point it to the google page?

Cheers..
