I'm looking for a free app that will let me:

Open an MP3 file.
Remove the first 20 seconds of the said file.
Crop the next 30 seconds out so it becomes a 30 second MP3.
I can then take this new, very short MP3, copy it to my mobile and use it as a ringtone.

As this is a one-off (probably) a free application or something shareware so I can contribute the recommended amount if I continue to use it.
Also, the potential killer, I'd like to to be extremely easy to use.

I grabbed Audacity on recommendation from a friend.
It appears to be free and I'm sure it will do exactly what I want it to do.
However I can open the MP3, select the part of the file I want (30 second "chunk" from the middle) and then I'm blowed if I can work out how to make that into the 30 second file I want.

I would recommend mp3directcut, its free and pretty easy to use once you get the hang of it, which shouldnt take long, I've made loads of ringtones using it.

I've used MP3 cutter to do this too. The trial version gives you 59seconds to cut from a song which is plenty for a ringtone. It's very simple to use and allows you to change saved bitrate for fitting more stuff on your phone.

Andy.
