I've never been able to create an active playlist on my PDA other than the Now Playing playlist but I believe you can create a mobile playlist within Media Player 10 and then sync it over.

on another note are there any better music players for WM phones? (more spefically smartphones (i.e. SPV C600)

i had to make a playlist in Windows media player 11 and sync the songs over that way.
