WMP 11. MPEG's cant play.

This is really, really frustrating.

Ever since i've installed wmp 11, the beta's through to final release. I cant play Mpegs at all.

Just says "Can't play file"

The error code is : C00D11B1.

Absolutely no reason why they shouldnt play.

Tried uninstalling WMP 11, but i cant. Says parts have been removed already, which is odd.

Tried installing WMP 10, but it just says i have a more current version.

Please help me out guys, this is frustrating to say the least. Had the problem for 4 months now.

Microsoft website is about as helpful as a cardboard boat in lava.

Hey there, I had the exact same problem. Download cccp-project codec pack, it's a very small download but installs every codec for playback. You can get it at www.cccp-project.net, if that fails which I can't see happening you can download the mpeg codec itself for playback from http://www.free-codecs.com/download/Stinky_MPEG_2_Codec.htm

does it play ok in media player classic?

get it from the free-codecs.com website

Yes it plays fine in that one.

I've used it before now, but i just want it to work in the most current software you know?

Download Defilerpack, it solved all my problems with stuff like not being able to play certain files.

hmmm, i've installed it. It doesnt actually work either. WMP 11 still comes up with the same error message.

Am i doing something wrong?

I dont understand any of the settings and stuff that come up if you choose the configurators.

Maybe im just being simple.

I dont want a new player, i just want to use WMP 11 without any issues. The codecs seem to not be doing the trick

try creating a new user account and see if it plays ok in that
