WMP 11:Problem with playing movies, game demos etc:pic inside

Sometimes my WMP11 plays movie files and gameplay demos like this:-

Whats the problem there?. Plays most things ok, but every so often it comes out like the above, most common with downloaded gameplay demos like the one above.

Am I just missing a codec or something?.

What else you got in your system ?

I used to get somethign like that occasionally.
It was down to a Hauppauge TV card in that system.
Caused confusion if it was running or had run before launching WMP.

Check all your drivers and DirectX are up to date.

i Have the same problem, its a conflict with a lot of .avi files and wmp and some codecs, try removing your codec pack (if any ) and reinstall another...

I personally got ****** of it and now using winamp for .avi files, and wmp for anything else (like mpg's, music, streaming ,etc...)

I've got Nero installed with the default settings, I'm wondering if it could be Nero Showtime that is causing the problem?. Tried playing the same game demo movie through it and it worked flawlessly.

TBH i just found one ''normall'' responce in my own thread:

I had this exact problem.

I un-installed ffdshow, quicktime alternative etc. Basically all my added codecs.

I then installed "combined community codec pack"- I believe this un-installs any codecs anyway. And it seems to have fixed the problem.

I didnt do it because i like klite codec pack, a lot of my music ( in all kinds of odd formats) wont play w/o it...
