Wmp player plays in black white and green red

Hello,

I have a big problem with playing .avi files

This is what happens ( a screenshot wht happens when playing simpsons or a fraps recorded age of emp. 3 vid):

Im using winamp now for .avi files, but i dont like amp, prefer wmp.
Reinstall fixed it for one day and after reboot (i think) it started again.
It happens to all .avi files no matter what codec.
Wmp plays other files like .mpg or .rm ok, i am using ffdshow btw.
Winamp plays .avi files ok and the preview in windows explorer also shows the vids in proper colour.
Anyone know how to fix this?
I really prefer WMP above winamp.

VLC player should do it.

I have those players, but i prefer wmp above anything, does anyone know how to fix the problem?

I had this exact problem.

I un-installed ffdshow, quicktime alternative etc. Basically all my added codecs.

I then installed "combined community codec pack"- I believe this un-installs any codecs anyway. And it seems to have fixed the problem.
