When I skip through video using windows media player, the sound skips to where it's supposed to, but the video just pauses for a long time ( 10 seconds + ).

It never used to do this, how can I fix it?

I've tried un-installing FFDShow, but that didn't work. It's the only codec pack I have installed. Well had installed.

Thanks for the reply :)

It happen during one video in particular, it's an .avi. Although 90% of my other .avi file play and I can skip through those fine. So one out of maybe 10 avi files this happenens with?

The CPU usage stays the same during the skip / image freeze.

No probs.

So is it just that one file or one in ten of your AVIs? Sounds like they could be corrupt or something? Got a mate who could watch the video on their PC and see what happens? If they watch it ok then the video isn't corrupted.

Hi there, I've sent it to a mate and it plays absolutely fine on his laptop, doesn't freeze or anything when skipping back and forth.

So it's my PC that's causing this?

If your PC has problem playing it and your mate's PC is ok then yes it does suggest that.

Where did you get FFDShow from? Is it the latest version?

I got it from free-codecs, and yeah it's the latest version. I haven't tried the suggested replacement codec pack yet, I'll give that a go tonight.
