WMP in Vista refuses to add random tracks from albums even though they are tagged correctly and all in the same MP3 format.

I've re-added D:\music to the "Monitor Foders" and it re-scans the folder, but still ignores 100s of tracks that are in the folder. These are alll in basic MP3 format so I don't understand why it's not adding them to the library - It worked fine on XP.

For example, I have an album with 15 tracks. but WMP only shows 6 tracks .

Is there a way to completly rebuild the WMP library without losing Playlists and Ratings?

There is a library file you can delete to refresh your library, google for the path.

Also what size are the tracks that are being missed out?

ive had that happen a few times, if you drag a box over the mp3 files or folders then drag that onto WMP it adds them then.

Yep, that has worked for me before, but I'm hardly going to double click 100s of tracks just to add them to the Library! Anyway, answer below.

I Deleted all *.wmdb files in C:\Users\**Username**\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Media Player

That's sorted it. WMP rebuilt the entire library and all my tracks are present. All my Ratings and Playlists were left intact.

Here's a tutorial - works the same for Vista
