anyone know how to get rid of the top right square thing when playing a track etc while playing a track in the "now playing"?

That doesn't appear in mine?? Weird

I've never liked WMP but I've tried it and I'm not impressed. How to I add my gawd damn library?! It's on a seperate drive, I've added the foler via "add library" but none of my tracks go into WMP?

Isn't this the version of WMP that adds media streaming capabilities to a 360 without the need for a MCE pC?

Went to install it last night, ended up not being able to and needing to restart the computer! When I resarted kept getting an error message about 'normalize.dll' and not being able to get into windows. Ended up reformatting.

Great

When I double-click a song, it plays it followed by my whole collection. Each time I double-click a song I want it added to the playlist, not played+everything else played too. There used to be an option in the beta and all previous versions of WMP but I can't find it any more - "Add to Now Playing on double-click." Can anyone tell me where this is now? It's so annoying :(

I would give it a go (not using Windows at the moment so I can't), but I'm wondering what's so special about this new version?

From the screenshots I've seen it looks a bit like a cross between WMP10 and iTunes with an absolutely disgusting, completely unusable user interface. Who on earth thought it would be a good idea to cram as many columns in with little padding or margins and no form of dividers inbetween then throw in a bucketload of inconsistencies in the navigational system for good measure — the same team of "designers" behind the Windows Live products? Yuck!

Erm have another look, my version doesn't have any of those problems. There is two columns, the one that gives you the option to view albums/songs/albums and the main one that shows you the albums/songs/artists for you to choose from.

Is the version that has just come out better that the one on vista? The one thing that really annoys me about WMP11 is that it doesnt have a play all button, how could they miss that! :( The other main bug bears are that you have to click on the button just below library to change between videos and music, and that you cant choose which files to look in for specific tyes of file which means the photos tab is full of album art and the videos tab is full of videos taken from my camera.

On the plus side I love the Album art feature, it makes finding an album a lot easier as you can see the cover and the name + it makes WMP look nicer. This is also the case for videos as you can see thumbnails, useful if your in bed watching films etc.

Pulseammo ATM WMP is sitting at 9,240k playing all the music in my library (about 15GB's) It uses a tiny amount of memory.

Dont think its there mate and i agree, it is really damn annoying.

it's like the beta versions of messenger live sorting the online contacts into away/present then when they updated it the feature had gone!

Bloody fools.

Don't even know why I upgraded from the beta, there's nothing else different. Luckily I still have my beta version here, going to stick that back on now.
WHY would you take something like that off? WMP does a lot of nice stuff, but if it leaves out something as basic as that, the bit I use most, then I can't use it.

But I'm still not convinced it's totally left out. It has to be somewhere, maybe even a registry hack

That's exactly what I'm talking about. Where's the contrast between the navigation tree column on the left and the main content area (which in the "standard" view, I believe features a number of columns with no divisions between them by default)? Why is there so much wasted space underneath the content in the aforementioned left-hand column? Why are the controls at the bottom of screen (completely useless if you want to tuck the buttom of the window out of view, whilst no one would ever move the top of a window out of view), and why is there so much wasted space either side of the (shockingly ugly) controls?

It may be great under the hood, but from a user interface design and usability perspective it looks awful. It's just an attempt to copy the iTunes interface with all the great things about it ripped out and some ugly graphics thrown in. When a product is in beta stages for this long, has been tested by countless people and is being developed by a company with a huge influence over the home computing industry, you'd expect a little better than that...
