WMP12 in Windows 7

It's a great player but one thing is annoying me

On every reboot it insists on rescanning my music collection and slows WMP12 down - why?!?!

Yeah it does it for me too. Scans the entire music collection. I don't think it scans for me when i'm playing anything though.

They really have turned it to crap with 12. Media Player 11 was the best, looked good too.

Running RC here and it seems to be.

Have you got it set to auto-add stuff to your list? That might be why, try turning it off.

wmp12 is rather strange. They removed the playing interface that's been there since probably the first version and basically left a media library or big list.

It does seem to scan your media folder on startup, but no noticeable performance hit here.

I prefered the old visualization and now playing list together, plus old style mini taskbar player.

Course now ive gotten use to wmp12 so it doesn't matter
