I just bought a great film called enemy mine from lovefilm.com, now they can either ship it to you or you can download it from then for half the price, so i did that (Totally legal by the way) now id like to put this on a dvd to watch it with my dad as its one of his faves, is there a way to watch it on a normal dvd player, thanks in advance

You need to use a program called fairuse4wm to remove the drm protection from the videos. Then you can use a program like svcd2dvd to convert it to dvd format.
