I have started playing Wo Long today on Gamepass via xbsx (it's also on ps4, ps5 and pc).

The combat seems very satisfying, even against early mobs when you time a perfect deflection and counter it feels amazing.

My strategy on the 1st level was to farm the area around the tiger (7 mobs and the tiger) to get to a fortitude of 25 and level the stat which increases your ability to wear heavier gear. I beat the end of level boss with literally a minute peace of health left on my first try.

I can tell already that this is going to be a game I have to finish. Right I'm off to try level 2.

Not really feeling this game tbh. I think it's probably a must play for massive fans of the genre, but for everyone else it will feel like an inferior version of Nioh, Sekiro, Elden Ring etc.

Had a quick go just now and it is typical Team Ninja with fast action. Love the dodge counter feels really good. Got to the area one boss quite quickly but couldn’t quite manage him. Will mess around in the first area for a bit before retrying.

Nowhere near the greatness of Nioh, but it definitely fills a gap. I'm on the 5th boss at the moment, gonna stick some more time into it this afternoon.

I'm loving the game it's definitely tough though. I started again to do a wood build for extra hp. The pole weapons scale with it and are extremely good. I ended up playing until 3am last night and managed to get the 3rd boss down after about 15 tries.

I thought the loading times were just a bit longer for me cause I'm on the Xbox S, but seems like everyone is complaining about them. I've put the game down for the day, had a couple of crashes back to dashboard and I can't help but feel like I may launch the console out the window if it happens again lol

I've read that the difficulty on the first boss is unbalanced. After which the remaining bosses are a walk the park.

They are not a walk in the park, it's just that the first boss is stupidly hard for that stage of the game. A lot of people will quit in frustration ( and have been, judging by the comments from user reviews ).

A little tip for anyone struggling you can deflect from a guard. So basically hold the guard button all the time during battles (unless moving) and deflect when required- if you miss the deflect you will take vastly reduced damage.

Thought I’d give this a try today. I’m in the middle of playing Sekiro, so the setting feels familiar.

Got to the first boss pretty quickly. Had about 5-6 attempts then had to stop for real life stuff.

What I can say is I had good success with circular deflecting. Lock on, push right and deflect as needed. You just keep going round in circles and deflecting.

Will come back to this another day but so far I’m underwhelmed. Maybe Sekiro has spoiled me! Clearly it is very early days so I will reserve judgement till I have played a fair bit more. Also, is it me or are the graphics just not very good?

I thought the game was easy once you got past the first boss but Lu Bu put a stop to that. Must’ve taken me 2 hours solid.

I've just reached him today. I've had a couple of attempts - I nearly had him down and stupidly tried to heal a summon and got killed.

I've found a great xp farm nearby up on the roof near the ape there is loads of enemies in close proximity.

Hes not too bad when you get the moves down, but I really struggled with the timing of his charge I always deflected too early.

Problem with that is if you dont deflect he keeps the flame weapon going which is a pain as you cant block without taking fire damage.
