the question is whether the E8500 is worth the extra price over the E8400.

500FSB is a magical number not many reach on any Mobo, so a higher Multi is a good point.
Depends on your needs.
This is on an old P5B deluxe so 500 + should be a gimme with P35 and X38 and Penryn

Yes 500FSB is attainable for some peeps but its still not easy to get for most current Mobos and then you may get a good sample.
I will never see it on this POS (475FSB max stable), not sure on 780's
Have a look around most forums and see how rare it is, hope that may change with the new Mobos arriving now/soon.
P.S Are the Quads due soon Native ?.

Will "GO" Stepping exist on these ?, same as all E6850's were "GO" Stepping.
When they have fully matured and get very close to EOL, we may see some even more energy efficient versions that can run with even less power consumption.
Will have a different stepping revision though, if that ever happens.

The E6850's are all "GO" from launch hmm, suppose it was not a new Tech though, just faster 1333FSB models of same CPU's

Yes, I know the Core 2 processors are faster and overclock well, but it's nice to sample the grass from both sides of the river, so to speak.
