Hi Guys

I have just installed E8500 and have been checking my settings, my temps seem high I am getting 50c to 54c at desktop and 60c under load are these not high I thought this range of Cpu's ran cooler. I had a E6850 before and that ran lots cooler than this. Spec of my Pc is below

Also I have just completed 3D Mark 06 and scored 11,944 is this result ok, the Cpu is running at the stock speed have not tried to OC it yet.

Hi guys

Many thanks for the replies,

Ok I have re-seated the Cpu cleaning off the artic silver, temps stayed the same idle at desktop 50c, I then went and bought a Tuniq Tower from OC removed Mb and re fitted.... temps were the same 50c at idle. I removed the Mb and then only used a tiny bit of Artic Silver spread it out using an old credit card temps have dropped 5c now 45c at idle

Any ideas on how I can get the temps down further or should I stop worrying I have also fitted another 12cm fan to my case it sounds like a tractor now :D

Do have a question about the 120mm fans I have fitted in regards to airflow
I have the Antec P-180 case -
1 x 120mm fitted to the front sucking air in from the front into the case
1 x Fitted to the top of the case sucking warm air out - should I change this so that it sucks air in from the out side down onto the tuniq Tower
1 x Fitted to the rear behind the Tuniq tower sucking hot air out

thanks I have read it , think an RMA might be asked for
The E8500 has a faulty temp sensor and reports 48 degree idle temps (at stock speeds & volts) in core temp. It passed 12hours Prime 95 stability test @ 4.2 GHz only to crash randomly while playing games, running 3dMark, surfing the internet or even boot into Vista!

ok quick update, I have just spoken with intel technical support, they have stated that there are no known issues with the temp sensor on the E8500, I also gave them the link to the web page stating there was a problem. He said that the E8500 does run hotter than the E8400 and that my idle temp of 45c is low for a Wolfdale E8500, though he did later say that the bios I'm using on my motherboard (Asus P5N32-E SLI) is a Beta Bios 1403 and that when another version is released I may see lower temps
