Wolfenstein The New Colossus

Big fan of New Order and Old Blood but am not feeling this one yet. Also not a big fan so far with the fact that the gun play is secondary to cutscenes and walking / talking, I just wanna shoot guns and kill nazis, not watch simplistic characters grief, "freak out" and do all this irrelevant drama.

So I've not played this for a few days. Was on 380.xx? driver or something similar where the game ran fine. Told me it wouldn't run (thanks for that) because of an out dated driver. Updated it, either the game just crashes when loading or it likes to cause Windows to throw a bit of a fit and semi lock when loading from the last save. Had to kill it with Task Manager without mouse control because of the above.

Do I need to do something extra or is it fubar right now?

Big fan of the first two games and this one is even better. I like the cutscenes in this series, they're always cinematic, and some are filled with hearty comedy. The characters are all interesting as well.

I also love the graphics and level of detail. refreshing to see a game filled with so much "stuff" to look at and admire. Looks so so good in 21:9, and even the cutscenes are 21:9.

Here's a gifv gallery of some stuff I've come across so far!

I'm loving it as well.
Some of the reviews are panning it for the writing and story but I've got no issue at all with any of it, I think half of them seem to forget that it's Wolfenstein not Schindler's List. It doesn't and shouldn't take itself too seriously at all and I have genuinely laughed at some the cut scenes which is far more of a reaction than most games get from me, yes they could be little shorter or less frequent but what game is perfect?

At the heart of it is a simple kill everything that moves FPS and the gunplay and feedback is awesome, movement slick and graphics great, oh and who the hell wants to play as a stealthy character? Kill em all!

One negative point from me though....the Shotgun is pants!

Completed the main story on this last night, according to Steam it says I've done 9 hours played. Which surprised me, thats quicker than I completed the first two (despite me playing on a harder level this time around). I enjoyed the game but I think I prefer the previous title to be honest, I did enjoy the cutscenes though and thought the characters interactions were good.

Do you have to have played the first two to get this?

No but it does help explain some bits as character dialogues refer to Blazkowicz in a manner that assumes the gamer knows how epic the character is based on his previous missions. It's not essential, but makes the story more compelling as it develops.

Did you do all the side missions as well ?

back to the start it is then!

Finished the game, story and cinematic scenes are highlight, very close to something like Tarantino.

Gunplay is meh and level design is yet another grey corridorfest for the most part, which is a shame. But I don't regret the money, as an overall experience it was pretty great.

Sadly I experience freezes at random places - I tried to return it to Game today but they could only offer me a replacement disc so I have to wait for it to be patched. Not a great customer experience from either Bethesda or Game...so beware, it looks like if you buy a PC title from Game which happens to give you issues then you're stuck. I can't request a refund via Steam as I have a retail copy. I loved the original and completed The Old Blood last week so I could move onto the new one...I guess I'll need to wait and hope.
