Women's driving position

I always find that the have their head tilted back too and look down their noise, their line of sight can't be much further than the front of the bonnet.

My GF drives like that :(

When she drives my car I get back into it and the seat is 3 inches from the wheel, bolt upright, seat base in the highest position, lumbar support on the hardest setting (it takes her until she runs out of adjustment to realise that the top knob doesn't adjust the backrest angle  )

Oh and Princeys cartoon hotty is looking fine ;)

Seems to be happening more and more, surely driving instructors/examiners should be stopping this sort of behavior. It can't be safe.

I moved a colleagues car at work today, my god I almost had to be prized out of the car afterwards. I have no idea how she drives in that position, it feels really restrictive.

Seen a couple of men driving this way as well, now that is weird.

Having researched this extensively today, I have discovered that on average, women's chests are exactly 6.9" from the centre of the steering wheel when seated normally rather than the recommended minimum of 10" (which when exaggeration is taken into account actually equates to 4.5").

Case closed.

My other half drives in a similar position, with the seat all the way forward, and jacked up pretty high, too.

But she's probably around 5ft or under.

I always cringe when I see people sitting that close to the steering wheel, if there is an impact and anything moves into the dash you are going to be crushed way too easy. I slide the seat back and steering wheel up as far as they will comfortably go

They dont all do it, my (female) best friend is very short (5') and drives a Micra - she has to sit with the seat nearly all the way forward so she can reach the pedals but has a perfectly normal driving position otherwise

I know what you mean, see it all the time =/

Browsing though a m8's Facebook pics and found this -_-

I was told that you should adjust your seat so that you can rest your wrist on the top of the steering wheel and have just a small bend in your arm. Don't know how good this is but it works for me.

Do many people here actually drive with arms outstretched on top sides of the wheel out of interest? Most of my friends still do but I tend to have mine at the bottom of the wheel on my lap most of the time unless on a bendy road.
