Women's driving position

i didn't drive alongside her at all.
obviously it was only after i overtook her that i noticed she didn't have her dipped beam on.
there's not much you can do to alert drivers they haven't got their lights on once you're past them.
i flashed my rear fogs a few times but tbh it's not really my job to tell her what to do.

the people flashing at her were the ones that she overtook as they didn't even see her
...

What a strange yarn:
  • you passed a female driver driving on a motorway in the dark
  • you noticed that her headlights weren't on
  • as you overtook her, you also had the time to notice that she was sitting very close to the steering wheel
  • you flashed your rear fog-lights (fairly similar to brake lights) a few times
  • she didn't react
  • you decided to ignore her lack of response because it is "not really your job" to help prevent accidents on a motorway
  • you pretty much kept station ahead of her
  • she overtook other slower moving cars (I presume you did the same)
  • the overtaken cars flashed her to warn her that she was driving without headlights
  • she didn't react to that either
  • someone nearly crashed into her because they couldn't see that she didn't have her headlights on
Have I correctly assessed this extraordinary tale?

Two suggestion:
  • you may consider using your hazard warning lights in future politely to warn other drivers that they are driving dangerously
  • take the train or bus in future, it will allow you more time to stare at women ;)

ORLY? So what if the PAS fails? How do they maintain adequate movement of the wheel without excessive shuffling even with PAS?
In honesty, practically every car made in the past few years has power steering. Do you have to hand the sudden failure rates of those power steering systems? The chances of it happening are pretty slim!

i did also flash my hazard warning lights, but that didn't work either
i didn't stare at anybody
i presume you never ever look at anybody else in other cars ever, especially not when overtaking?

what would you have done differently Oh Wise One?
unfortunately i couldn't stop, politely tap on her window and notify her of her mistake

i was concentrating on the traffic in front of me and the rather bad weather conditions rather than obsessing over some silly woman

No but I used it to illustrate that you dont have proper control of the vehicle, tyre blowouts are far more common, hitting a puddle, all sorts of issues can require increased control which you dont have if your arms a angled like a V to the steering wheel.

Just a response to a planky post tbh.

Wait. Remember that a system is only as strong as it's weakest point, and in the case of many power steering systems that is the belt. Personally I feel that the chances of a rubber belt that very rarely changed (due to it not appearing in the set service schedules of many cars) of snapping/slipping are more than "pretty slim".

You'd probably be better off presuming he doesn't even drive

I don't buy the whole height thing.

You'd have to have arms 6 inches long to assume the correct driving position with the seat that far forward :p

She aint that bad looking, from that one angle though

They should start dishing out points for that. Certainly more dangerous than doing 34 in a 30 zone

BUT IT'S OK, SHE'S NOT SPEEDING!
