Hey,

I was lucky enough to win a QX6850 in a LAN I just went to, but since I already have a Q6600 (G0) @ 3.6GHz at a nice and low temperature with my Thermalright Ultra Extreme HS I was planning to sell it to then buy something like a new monitor. So, I have 3 questions:

1. Do you think I should just use the QX6850, will I see a performance boost over my Q6600?
2. If I was to sell the QX6850, how much do you think I could sell it for considering it is completely brand new, and unopened?
3. Where would the best place be to sell it?

Cheers in advance for your replies.

Nice :) Did you win it at i33? What did you have to do for it?

I won a golden ticket to i34 on Sunday :D

If it's a QX9650 then I'd keep it but that 6850 is identical and performs the same as your Q6600 clock for clock. So yes definitely sell it there are people on the bay who will pay silly money for the words Extreme Edition.

Congrats! Always nice to win something, wish it'd rub off on me...he he. Personally I'd sell it, you've got power to spare with the setup you've got and you could probably get a very good price for it on a well known auction site, especially with it being sealed, you'd be able to get a very nice monitor with the cash you'd make on it.

Good luck!

Thanks guys for all your help. Yes Yeggstry, I won it at i33! I had to guess the amount of Creme Eggs in a case, I guessed it exactly with 88 :). Unfortunately I didn't win anything in the raffle, but I did get an Antec Sonata case and tonnes of freebies, including a Razer mousemat and 3 fans!

Back on topic, how much do you guys think I should ask for it?

Sell it, you can get a lot of money for it, and the quad core you already have at the very nice 3.6ghz clock is more than enough. Plus the QX6850 is worth a lot more than the Q6600, and you probably won't get more performance out of it anyway. Just sell it to some idiot who likes extreme editions, and spend the money on something nice.

And oh, congratulations, that's one hell of a prize :D

Yeah, well done! Not sure on the exact value, it's worth loads more than your G0 and has to be sold because you'll not get any more performance out of it than your G0 and you'd get one hell of a monitor for it's sale price. I'd auction it off (if you had Members Market access I'd suggest that, but you need 250 posts or more)

indeed, more expensive and no better than a Q6600 G0, so selling would be best option and buying some goodies :D

My advice is stick it on the well known famous auction site as you will get a better price for it, muppets will pay silly prices for extreme editions of CPU's on there.
