E6600 System Won`t POST when FSB set to over 9*1333(3GHZ) HELP!! :-(

Hi people,
I have a e6600 on a p5n32 sli motherboard and the fsb is currently set at 1333 (3ghz) and a vcore of 1.29375.
I`m trying to up the fsb but it won`t let me boot into windows when i up the fsb. even by 5mhz in the bios. I save the setting in thebios then restart but it won`t even post.
i have to switch off the computer, then the psu and go into the bios and change the setting back to 1333 before it will restart. (tried 1338).

can anybody help as i really want to push my system more.
chip is idling idling at ~41 deg and is 48-50 under dual prime 95 fft test (core temp)

thanks in advice,
ollie

This sounds very familiar to the problems listed in the Asus 650i thread where the nvidia chipset has big gaps of non booting fsb's. Your best best is to search through there and find a exact fsb someone else used and try that.

My chip didnt want to go over 2.7ghz (300fsb) tried 310 / 320 / 330, I seen someone else had used 334 so I tried that and it booted at 3ghz, might be worth you knocking down the multi and try upping the fsb quite a bit.

yeah i`ve tried it with the multiplier at x8 and still no hope, i`ll have to have a play around with it.
i`ll try upping the vcore later

any more ideas anyone?

Ive got the same mobo and same cpu and I had the same problem.

As someone has already mention the RAM and CPU Fsb are linked. so go into bios unlink them and you can push the CPU and the RAM speeds up separately. Id leave the RAM at default speeds and then play with the CPU til your happy with it. then up the RAM if you feel the need.

If that doesnt work then im never offering help on this forum again :p

still hasn`t worked mate, these are my current settings:
memory clock mode: unlinked
fsb: 1333
mem:667
AI tuning: manual
cpu therml control: auto
cpuid: disabled
C1E: disabled
Execute disable bit: enabled
Virtualisation tech: enabled
Enhanced intel speedstep: disabled
LDT freq: 5x
v core 1.29375
everything else auto

god its doin me head in!

just playing around, and it`ll go above 3ghz when its linked into the memory.

shall i leave the fsb atio to auto or is there a best setting the leave it on?
options are 1:1 / 5:4 / 3:2 / sync mode
