It also makes no sense.

Wonder Woman was set in 1918. Even if Steve Trevor somehow had a baby with somebody, that baby would be well in to their 60's by 1984

Or do you mean he got Wonder Woman pregnant? In which case it wouldn't be 100% human? But even then babies don't look 100% like their fathers.

the last point really - maybe its just a dream sequence or some magic shenanigans.

Maybe Grandson this time round then, I remember in the TV show, Steve Trevor was WW2, not WW1, so it then made sense when it was his son later on in the show and as they already did it 30 odd years ago in the TV version there is precedent for doing it again in the movie version. I mean lets face it, it makes about as much sense as anything else in a world where theres an invisible island with immortal women on it, who have lightning firing bracelets and a rope which makes you tell the truth :D
