Wondering about a new monitor... but not sure it's worth it?

OK, so I'm currently using a Gigabyte M27Q rev. 1.0. It's a 27" 1440p IPS monitor. It gets used across 3 computers - my Mac Mini for general use, my work laptop and my gaming PC. It's a few years old and now that I've got a decent gaming rig I'm wondering about whether it's worth upgrading it, but I don't know how worthwhile it will be, or what I would go to. Is 4k really that much prettier than 1440p for gaming? Will OLED suck for day to day use on the Mac or for work (spreadsheets and whatnot) on the laptop? The inbuilt KVM is an absolute dealbreaker, which cuts down the numbers of brands I can even look at.

Any thoughts?

Getting an OLED monitor is probably the best upgrade I've given my PC for years, it just looks stunning. I use it for work as well, it's absolutely fine and superwide is even better.

I use an external KVM, although only have mouse and keyboard in it as I just use the two inputs in the monitor. I don't think a KVM should be a deal breaker, as it's easily resolved.

4K is much less important on small screens, switching from 1080p to 4K on a 80 inch plus projector screen is a huge upgrade.
On a 27 inch screen going from 1440p to 4K is less important than either the screen coating or overall picture quality of the screens in my opinion.

If all games could do 120fps+ at 4K, sure go 4K. But you're be getting powerpoint presentation, so stick with 1440p

Also PPI of 4K on a monitor is so high you would need one of those jeweler eye pieces to see the pixels.

Unless you're getting a 40"+ monitor, stick with 1440p.

Mostly but it depends upon the game, the size of the monitor, and the quality of the monitor. I have an old 27" 4k monitor on which 1080p looks pixelated and I have a newer 27" 4k monitor on which 1080p does not look pixelated.

A 4k monitor is a massive benefit in sniping games as you can 'see' farther.
