i think my hard drive just failed, not sure though because i've never had a failure before so not sure if it is but the hard drive isnt showing up in the bio's and its making a strange clicking sound when i turn on the pc etc etc

its a 36gb raptor(sig spec), as i understand they have a 5 year warranty? so should i just ring em up and get it replaced? or is it fixable by myself?

thanks

That definitely sounds like a failed hard drive (clicking + not showing in POST). As what Cob said, just visit the WD website for getting an RMA.

No go to the retailer who you bought it off. Don't allow yourself to be pawned off the manufacturer. How long have you had it over a year?

yea had it over a year, brought it from ocuk, they dont even sell the 36gb models anymore anyway so i'll just have to rma.

quick update, a new replacement drive arrived today from western digital and they sent me a 160gb raptor to replace my 36gb lol, well chuffed.

windows home server is restoring my last backup onto it as i speak, great little server.

glad my hard drive failed now :)
