Hi internet,

I just bought an extra 2x2Gb RAM to upgrade my current 2x2Gb, I bought what I thought was the same RAM, or as close as I currently have. When I put it in, it won't both either with my working RAM, or on its own. I've got pictures of each to follow but I thought I'd check I've not done something dumb before I try and send it back, thanks!

New not so working RAM:

Mobo is M4A785TD-VEVO

Have you tried each new stick separately (i.e. just one of the new sticks installed - and then alternated)?

You could also try resetting the CMOS before trying trying the new memory.

The other thing you might consider is a BIOS update as a lot of the new updates relate to stability - a bit vague but may the stability issues could be memory/compatibilty related.

Yep, seems that it won't boot with any number and variation containing the new RAM, one stick included. I'll give the BIOS and update, thanks. What's strange is it being so similar to my current RAM, and I can't imagine both sticks were DOA.

Unlikely, but sadly not impossible.

However, hopefully a BIOS update may improve things.

Remeber to clear the CMOS after the update.

Also, if you manage to get into the BIOS try setting the memory's volatge, timings and frequency manually.

It's been a long time since I had to do a BIOS update, I'm right in saying that it should be on the Mobo's website? According to that there's no BIOS update

Alright, reset the BIOS settings, then pulled the battery and still no go. Looking at the seller, I can only get a refund if they're faulty, I guess I'll have to risk it.

If this is your MB - link

Then this is the link to your BIOS updates - link (you need to select an OS to get list then expand the list by clicking on the plus sign.)

See above post first.

EDIT: Oh, and use the EZ Flash 2 Utility as it's the simplest and safest way to update your BIOS.
