wont power on?

Just rebuilt an old p4 system, been building pcs for years but this has me stumped....
Its a p4 1.8, abit bd7 mb 1 stick of ram, all I have in is a the 2 power connectors, the cpu, 1 stick of memory, a agp gfx card

When i power the system up, the fans spin for a split second then they stop.
The green light is on the motherboard.
I have tried another motherboard, another cpu, another stick of memory, another psu, tried shorting the power switch an all i see is the same???? the fans spin for a split second then nothing.
Ive checked if the mb is shorting on the case, all seems good...


Any ideas chaps??? Im stumped

The mobo may have passed unto the great beyond. Can you test the proc in a different mobo?

when you say you've checked the mobo isn't shorting on the case, have you actually run it outside the case ?
