i transfered my pc to a new case and now it is not working. all of the components are the same and i have checked the conections many times. It will turn on (green light on the front), the cddrive will work and it makes a whining noise but the cpu fan wont spin and nothing will display on screen. any ideas? what do i need to plug in to begin with? thanks
 
yeah, maybe not in the same place though. what is the minimum i need plugged in to test? do i need to put in the hdd? obviously it wont boot without it but the fan should come on?

Also dont forget the VGA :P you can try these out outside your case with the minimum ammount of parts needed (Ex 1Ram Chip ecc..) and then stard adding on components one by one till you have found the fault

most probabbly you have shorted something out (ex placing a motherboard standoff where it's not supposed to be and it's shorting a few pins at the bottom of ur board.. or else may have left out the 4/8pin Cpu power connector...??
 
Check the 4 Pin-main cable again... maybe your PSU got some problems, did you tested with some other PSU?

i tested it with 2 psus and none seem to work. ill try again. i rekon i shorted something. what do i do to fix this? thanks
 
Find where you're shorting out, and stop it.

Your best bet is to remove everything and start again. If you have the time and inclination, plug things in outside the case and make sure it starts up.
 
i took everything apart and tried to turn it on. how? i had to connect it to the case but outside of it. thing is now nothing turns on at all. i can hear power in one psu. not the other so mi think its dead. but its not shorting anymore. it just wont turn on at all. no power is going to any of it
