Bought mine a few weeks ago, it's noisy i guess but it doesn't bother me. As it's rigged up to a decent hi-fi with a nice pair of Mission Floorstanding speakers I turn the sound up.
Hmm actually your right, my hitachi is extremely loud when it initially spins up the disk and then whilst playing the game the drive is relatively quiet. My mistake haven't pld my 360 in a few weeks.
