Word 2000 Text Changed to Garbage

Hi,

I Wonder if anyone could help me, I have a Word 2000 document, although most of the doucment is fine, some sections of the documents text has been changed to "dK Ï¥È£ ·è ŠAMÅÀ+êQHíS(t 8’@Nt 5A".

The document was fine when I saved it yesterday but today has lots of the text has been changed by garbage as above, its really important I fix the problem as its an offical document. The backup I made yesterday also has the same problem.

Sounds like a corrupt file. No idea what you could do unless you have a backup or do a system restore back to when it was fine, then create a backup on a seperate Hard disk, or USB disk.

Did I mention its a windows 98 machine, for a business legal department, I cannot post much about it as its confidential, but I can't understand why only small sections have been turned to garbage.

Is there anything built in to Word 2000 to recover the file from a previous date, Searching the internet for it brings up nothing useful.
