Word 2002 issues

hey guys, I'm having issues with word 2002 atm, every time I click " save as " it hangs, totaly unresponsive,
rest of windows etc is fine but word has to be closed (end task) else it just sits there (left it there overnight to see if it just took ages) I'm up to date with my windows/office updates etc and have tryed reinstalling it and just wonder if you have any idea what could cause this?

Hi Vent,

Do you have a HP scanner or HP share to web installed? There was a recent Windows security update which causes weird behaviour such as that you've described if thats the case- see http://support.microsoft.com/kb/918165

nope, all the printers here are epson

but having now checked, its whenever I use the dialog boxes (ie "OPEN" "SAVE AS" etc) rather than clicking the file in windows explorer, and thats getting slow too.

Trust me, run the fix anyways, the chances are your problem is because of the issue with the new MS patch.

SYMPTOMS
After you install security update 908531 (security bulletin MS06-015), you may experience one or more of the following problems:
• You cannot access special folders such as "My Documents" or "My Pictures."
• Microsoft Office applications stop responding when you try to save or to open Office files in the "My Documents" folder.
• Office files that are located in the "My Documents" folder cannot be opened.
• If you open a file by clicking Open on the File menu, the application stops responding.
• When you type an address in the Address box in Microsoft Internet Explorer, nothing happens.
• When you right-click a file and then click Send To, nothing happens.
• When you expand a folder in Windows Explorer, nothing happens.
• Some third-party applications stop responding when you open or save data in the “My Documents” folder.
