I've downloaded an Invoice template in Word 2010 and I'm amending it to my own needs but I'm having an issue with the date format.

It will only accept the date in US format i.e, 5/19/2011 and even if I manually amend it to 19/5/2011 it changes it back automatically.

I've gone into the Word options and the language settings are all English UK but I can't see any obvious way of changing the date format.

Does anyone know how to change this at all?

(i'll assume you've checked the obvious but worth noting just in case!)

Check the localization settings on your pc/laptop as well.

In Word, Click on File> Options> Language.
Make sure English U.K. is set as your only/primary language.

In Windows, Click Start> Control Panel> Region and Language.
Make sure the right date format is selected.

Cheers for the replies guys.

The PC itself is set as English UK with the correct date format dd/mm/yyyy and Word 2010 has "English (U.K.) <default> as the only entry in the language section.

Ok. In Word, Right click on the date> Select "Edit Field..." and then select the proper format. Or enter it manually at the top eg. "d/M/yyyy".

As soon as I move the mouse over the date a drop down selection box appears -

You can see I select todays date and it appears in the US format. If I manually enter the UK format it automatically reverts to US format.

If I right click on the word "Date" I get these options -

Nothing there appears to alter the date format.

Ok in that case, Right click on the actual date and click "Remove Content Control". Then just enter your date manually.

Just tried this on the same template and it definitely works :)

too late now but if you goto in the options and enable "developer" on your ribbon, you can customise the date format the picker uses.

as you can see, it defaults to U.S...

edit: you have to highlight it and then click "properties" in the ribbon.
