Word Doc Recovery?

Hi everyone,

I used some recovery software to recover some files that I lost (i know - i do backups now).

It recovered all my word files but they dont work properly - i get this when I open it:

And then When i click OK i just get a load of symbols like in that window, not my document.

Does anyone know a way I can recover these documents?

They are very important and I wouldn't like to make them again.

i would say that the file is buggered tbh.. some of the data has proberly been recovered but some is beyond what your software could recover, you tried reading the document as a .txt and seeing if u can make sence of any of it?

Rename the file to *.txt and then click on it.

You might to give them to a company that specialises in Doc recovery they might be able to recover them.

have you tried opening word and then do a file open, open and repair

yes i had tried that. I have tried all the suggestions now, and it still wouldn't work.

But it is now resolved - well not how i like it but good enough. I used an OCR scanner on an old hard copy i found of the document - now i just need to correct it all
