Right, trying to trouble shoot for someone but am out of my depth...
I have installed OpenOffice since he doesn't want to buy MS Office due to the very minimal use he needs, fair enough... but some files open fine and some simply don't and cause the program to stop responding needing me to eventually kill the process.
now, these ones that don't open can be opened fine in Word Viewer, but ones with edit-notes are apparently not opening how he wants - WV opens these files with lots of red notes with the info all down a margin at the right, but he's adamant that he's used to seeing edit notes more inline and in yellow - does this ring bells for anyone?
I'm foxed really, I was under the impression OpenOffice was a good substitute but some .doc files just dont open, and also I need to find this "yellow and inline" edit-note program... maybe its an old version of office or something I dont know...
can anyone shed any light?
