Word - Headers & Footers

I use Word 2007 and I have a question.

I have a 21 page document. It needs headers and footers but only on pages
4 through 21, the first 3 do not require them.

I spent a bit of time looking at this last night but cannot figure out to do this........that said I am sure it's really simple and it's just me being a numpty.

If anyone can help I'd be really grateful.

You'll need to split them into sections - you can then specify each section to have a different header/footer.

Thanks for that, sorted the headers.

I've just realised there are no actual footers, just page numbers.

The first 4 pages (not 3 as mentioned earlier) do not require numbering.

Page 5 through 17 need numbering as 1 through 17 if that makes sense?

If I select the style of numbering I want and right click and select insert into current position it marks page 5 as page 1 but still gives numbers to the first 4 pages, and it still marks it as 21 pages, not 17.

There should be a button that is named "Format page numbers" - you can set the page numbers within a section from here.
