word page number/footer issue

Not sure what I've done but got a 7 page word document, including title page.

Putting in page number starts at 1* for contents, goes 2,3, 1 then blank on the rest.

Even removing the footer and putting one back in it has this mid document change point.
Any ideas what I have done?

*trying to solve it myself content starts at 2 now instead of 1.

Have you put any section breaks on your document? They cause page numbers to stop entirely or start counting again.

Not intentionally. Will need to look into the document, used page breaks.
Now Ive read what section breaks are, yes I have. Broke put in a couple of sections on pages into two columns.
