Wordpress question

hi guys, I'd like to have an first page for my wordpress

So they go to my site, they have a page that never changes, they click news on the side and it takes me to my news/blog, How can i do this? I'd like the entrance page to be maintained in wp if possible too...

Got nothing to do with Custom Templates, what he wants is built into WordPress! :confused:

OP - if you've downloaded WP2+ then simply goto your Options, then "Reading" and you'll see some options about "Front Page Displays".

There are 2 drop down boxes, one for the front page that will always be shown, the other is for the news.

Not used it in a fair while, since it became total bloatware.
