Wordpress template & shopping cart question

Once again I've managed to be bitten by the website bug, so I've registered my domain, but am not going to blindly jump in to anything, so am researching what sort of thing to use.

Currently I'm leaning towards Wordpress as it's so easy to use (I used it last time) and I've found a decent host that has unlimited SQL databases, etc, so running other things on the same server won't be an issue.

This leads me to my template query. I've found http://www.photocrati.com this site in my searches and that seems to be EXACTLY what I'm after. Does anyone have any experience with this, or of anything that's better than this? Having my photos available for purchase, all contained in one place would be ideal. I've not looking into how the shopping cart works, or who it links with for printing, etc (or even if it does that).

As you can see I'm still at a very early stage here, but does anyone have any info on this, specifically with Wordpress template and shopping carts. Generally the people that ask about shopping carts on the forums I've looked through, don't come back to tell us what the outcome of their searches has resulted in :(

I've tried to get my website (link in sig) to look like the photocrati theme. Mine is hosted with Weebly, simple to create and most importantly...free :)

I like what you've done there. A nice simple layout that doesn't detract from what you're trying to promote.

I have to say, these forums seem to have died in the last year. Have that many turned pro and moved away from here?

Cheers ElDude. I very much tried to keep it simple. I trawled through loads of websites belonging to professional photographers and the one consistant theme i noticed was that the designs were all very simple, with the aim of letting the photos stand out and do the talking.

In my opinion, cluttered websites of photographers detract from the actual images. Have a look at this site here, very different to mine, but you'll see what i mean regarding keeping it very simple and the photos really standing out: http://www.andrewkendall.com/

I quite like that idea of having giant screen filling images with small navigation tabs, just to show off the photos. I don't think it'd work for most people, but it's a nice change.

Both my websites use Photocrati. Once you pay you get all upgrades free. In the year I've been with them there have been numerous upgrades including an e-commerce one.

The shopping cart links into your paypal account, it's up to you who you get to print the images.

Let us know if it's ace :D

Just had to shell out more money for other things, so now it'll have to wait until the end of the month. Poor old lonely domain name, spinning in the wind :(

Lol. Yes I really like it. Still have some fiddling to configure it how I would like it but overall very impressed
