Wordpress theme help

Hi all,

Looking at launching a cross stitch / knitting pattern sale site for a friend and I've been looking at themes that fit WooCommerce.

We've found this one that we both really like and think it would fit well with the subjects being sold (most are very fashion/sleek looking stites)

its £40 to buy which for someone that doesn't know if it'll make any money is a little steep for them.

How difficult would it be to build something very similar to that from scratch for someone that's never made a theme for WP in their lives?

WordPress themes are tricky to make which is why the prices are high.
Buecause the website your working on is new why not use a free simple wordpress theme and see how it goes? If it's successful work your way up and start buying plugins, themes and so on?

I don't really use any blogging software's.
I am more of a forum guy who creates forums etc.
