Hi guys, we are due to change provider tomorrow. Everything is staying the same so moving from BT FTTC on a Homehub 5 to another FTTC provider.

Will we need to change any username or passwords or is that automatically authenticated down the fibre line? Router is staying the same.

You'll need to change the connection details.

I was under the impression that BT locked their routers so they can't be used with other ISPs (I may well be wrong or out of date).

Isn't your new ISP proving a router?

Who the new ISP is may have a bearing.

Thanks, yeah I have a router but was wondering if the internet will switch off before I get there in the morning.

Looks like the Homehub 5 will be locked.

BT hubs can be used with other FTTC ISPs (used mine on a Plusnet and Talktalk connection before) just make the DSL username and password changes in Advanced Settings.

Are your work on a residential package? (you said home hub, rather than business hub) so unsure if you do actually have a business hub, whether they may be locked down compared to home hubs.

What ISP have you moved to? Did they not provide you with a modem/router?
