Work contract question.

So I have received my contract through the post that I meant to sign and send back, but there is a line that I have to fill out that is confusing me.

It looks like this...

Job Title:
Function:
Date:

Can anyone tell me what it means by function? I have no idea :/

This is what's confusing me, in my contract my title is Retail technical adviser, Grade J.

So it's what I will be doing? But they haven't actually told me what my job involves yet

So me being a Retail Technical Assistant my function would be technical I assume?

All I know is my title, it's all it says on my contract, the reason why I don't have more information because I was offered a higher paying role after my interview.
