I'm looking to start some form of work experience for my degree.
I have to complete 200 hours over the year but unsure what approach to take.
I want to contact placements that will give me the best chance of making use of this 200 hours so somewhere that doesn't just chuck me here there and everywhere. Would anyone suggest any ideas of what route to take? I'm looking around the networking field.

I don't know too much about the field but how I'd approach it would be to contact a few likely companies with the rough times that you are available to work for them and ask what their plans would be for you. If you do that for a few companies then hopefully you'll find that some are better than others with their plans and how that would match up to the experience that you need.

Is this something where you're expected to be paid for your time or is it simply volunteering for experience? Does the university not have links to industry or any guidance they can offer you? Usually if you're expected to work for a firm then the university will want to vet them and/or offer help in gaining a placement.
