Ok so I am currently in process of putting together a build...

I haven't owned a PC for almost 8 years so I have to get EVERYTHING

So far I have bought the majority of the parts with a few bits still outstanding.

I currently have sitting in the babys room...

As you can tell there's a few key items missing...

So this is what I have planned...

Im still not 100% on the monitor as I don't really know what I should be looking for. Chances are with a 980 I wont be doing a great amount of gaming at 1440p, at least not until I saved enough to invest in a 1080.



So what do you guys think? is there anything you suggest I maybe could do differently?

I look forward to hearing your thoughts :D

Ive been toying with the idea of getting the Samsung 850 Pro 128Gb SSD and just holding onto the Kingston as a backup SSD. Either that or just save and go for the Samsung 950 Pro 256GB M.2?

I have a friend who is lending me an optical drive so that I can install Windows and then remove once its all up and running :)

A 980 will have no trouble at 1440p but i would recommend a gsync monitor. Even if you have to down the resolution i think its worth it, its a much better experience. Added a 1440p one. 1080 is pretty old school now but you can find elsewhere. dont get 1080p 27" though, looks terrible. If you can beg/borrow a 1080p standard monitor for now and save up for the dell that might be worth your while.

Not sure what you're extra three fans are for? You can probably get away without them.

M.2 is not really worth it at your budget. It is faster, sure, but i don't think you are going to see the benefit. You'd want to max out everything else before upping to m.2 storage. Go with whichever capacity of the below suits you. Peronsally i like the largest SSD and not get a HDD, but you already have HDD to maybe 256gb will be fine.

A note: It would have been easier to spec you out fully from the start without prior purchases. #JustSaying

The only reason I've gone for the AIO is the ambient temperatures here in Cyprus are round the 30 - 40 degree mark. The only time it falls below that is in the winter months.

The 3 Extra fans are to replace the single 120mm rear fan and the giant 200mm fan in the front of the case ;)

Im very tempted to go for the Samsung 250GB now. Just wont tell the wife :D

That Dell is exactly what I'm after, might have to save up all my pocket/birthday/christmas money to buy it :D

With the samsung drives you also have the magician software and RAPID mode which uses system RAM as a cache for faster performance. Works pretty well imo.

Its a good and very popular monitor. You can get colour profiles from TFT central too which should improve the colour accuracy.

Yeah it does get very warm, unfortunately we don't have air conditioning in our house so have to make do with ceiling fans :( even then in the heat of summer the house is rarely below 30 degrees.
 
Ive tried finding a stockist of the Dell out here in Cyprus, apparently there is only 2 places that stock that model and the cheapest I can find it is 752 Euros which with current exchange rates works out ~£659... My only other option would be to buy it from here and have it shipped to my parents house ready for me to pick up in December when we fly back for christmas.

Either that or ask them nicely to forward it on to me which then incurs the risk of damage from the postal system. :eek:
 
In the meantime, whilst im saving/deciding what im going to do. We have a 27" 1080p TV in the bedroom I can use... its not quite the same but it will do for now.
