Hi guys, I'm looking for recommendations for a fairly cheap laptop. I use my desktop for most things but am going to need something more portable soon.

I don't have any particular requirements other than that it should be 15" or less, and fairly cheap. I may try throwing something like DotA 2 at it but it's no issue if it can't play anything.

Also whilst I'm here, since I'll assume anything at that price comes without an SSD are there any recommendations for one I could install myself? (I imagine 120GB would be plenty) I think it would break my heart going back to a HDD having used an SSD in my PC for so long.

Cheers.

I bought a Lenovo Z370 the other day for £550 its a 13.3 inch laptop and weights about 2Kg Guess its pushing your budget a bit, but i like it :)

I5 2.5Ghz
4GB RAM (Can be upgraded to 8GB)
720GB Hard Drive (I replaced it with one of these)
Nvidia 410M 1GB
Windows 7

Im happy with it. Changing the hard drive was pretty easy, the manual that comes with it shows you how (unscrew the back plate, something like 6 screws, 2 screws hold the HDD holder into the case, that pops out then unscrew the hard drive from the holder, reverse the process and bob's your uncle)

So yeh, maybe an option?
