Hi all

If I leave my Dell work laptop to go to sleep/hibernation, in the morning I have to press the power button to get it going again.

But once I login to Windows, it immediately begins a shutdown (presumably because I pressed the power button to turn it on).

Does anyone have any idea how to wake this machine without also initiating a shut down?

Many thanks.

M.

Adjusting the power settings in Windows is one possible solution for preventing your laptop from shutting down when you wake it up. To access the power settings, go to the Control Panel and click on Power Options. Once you're there, select "Choose what the power buttons do," and configure the power button by setting it to do nothing when pressed.

Another solution to try is updating your laptop's drivers, especially if they are outdated, as this can cause unexpected shutdowns. Check the drivers related to power management and update them if necessary.

If the solutions above don't work, it's possible that there may be a hardware issue. In this situation, you may want to reach out to Dell's customer support team to receive further assistance.

I hope these tips are helpful!
