Hi Peeps

Once again I turn to the mighty knowledge that is OCUK Forums for travel help.

I'm trying to organise a meal for up to 15 people within a reasonable travel time of Chelsea Bridge. The limit per head is probably £50 but may be a bit lower. It's a midweek in early December. I ideally I'd like something a bit interesting but not necessarily haute cuisine or superlative food. It's a chance to mingle with colleagues so the location/venue is probably as important as the nosh.

Any suggestions will be gratefully received.

Regards

There not much around apart from going over the the old power station there. My friend went to the tapas place there recently with work people and then had some drinks in bars.

You're really going to struggle to find anything worth your while for £50/head. I've not been (but I know some of the restaurants from their other locations) but I second the Battersea Station idea.

Out of that list I'd recommend Dishoom, El Pastor, Bao, or maybe Cinnamon Kitchen or Roti King (I've not been to the last two mind). Tonkotsu is also great but in my mind more of a quick meal as it's just bowls of noodles :)

This is probably better off in La Cuisine.

Roti King
As in the basement by Euston? Can't imagine that'd go down well for a works meal lol.

That looks great by the way but no way will I be able to claim £65 each for the Royal Thali which looks and sounds amazing. Maybe one for the Mrs and I sometime :D
Would people be willing to topup? £50/head isn't a lot for a proper meal plus drinks in central.

Edit: unless you travel.

I did M in Threadneedle Street the other week. Seemed like a nice place for a work meal. Doable.

Where are people going home from?

As above, £50 is pretty stingy for drinks and dinner in London.
It's not a celebration, it's just a bunch of colleagues using their expenses to buy a meal. Sadly our roles don't give us expense accounts to justify fleecing customers.

I'm just looking to enjoy the variety of London as opposed to Ask and Pizza Express.

My current top of the list is La Bodega Negra in SoHo I have a few other places in mind too.

As a big fan of Mexican food, I’d get to Breddo’s, El Pastor, Santo Remedio, or maybe Sonora over Bodega Negra :) The latter two definitely have sites in Soho. London Bridge might be easier for you to get to if you’re south of the river? Around Borough is busy, but a great vibe.

If you’re heading to Soho maybe check out Berenjak, Gunpowder, Flesh and Buns as well. Get something booked though asap, if you’re less than two weeks out you might struggle!

La Bodega Negra turned out to be be very good. The food was great but not especially punchy. The setting was great had a real good vibe although getting served wasn't super easy the staff were rattling around. Generally very happy and it was memorable. We were on the set menu so I can't speak for the overall menu quality, I'd go again.

Thanks for peoples responses
